For decades the AHS Bands have worn formal concert dress and uniforms. The look of a band is just as important as the sound for the non-musician on the street and when the AHS Bands appear in public is it important they look and sound second to none. Concert and Marching Uniforms are provided as part of band fees and fundraising for no extra cost.

Uniforms / Concert Dress

  • Formal Uniform

These are fitted during camp and are stored at AHS. They should almost never go home or leave the building. These are checked out in August and checked in after the parade in December. These are dry cleaned as part of the band fee and there is no extra charge to use them. However, if they are lost or damaged the replacement cost is $350 for the coats, $100 for the pants, $40 for the shoes. The next time the band needs to buy uniforms the bill will likely be in the 75-90,000 range. Therefore we must take care of what we have, keep them at school, and turn them back in when you are done and there’s nothing to worry about here. All parts of the uniform are provided and cleaned as part of the fee.

    • Coat- Sized and Fitted for you at Camp

    • Pants (Bibbers)- Sized and Fitted for you at Camp

    • Black Shoes- Sized and Fitted for you at Camp

    • Black Socks- Bring your Own (THIS IS BIG!)

    • Band T-Shirt Under the Coat

    • Hats- We will wear Hats when the weather is the coolest and for more formal performances or contest. We may not wear them for all home games.

    • No crazy colored Jewelry, or other distracting things that make you look out of uniform.

  • Informal Uniform

There are times where the heat or informality of an event does not warrant full uniforms. For these performances we will use the following:

    • Band T-Shirt- Provided as part of fee

    • Brown or Khaki Shorts (for hot weather)

    • Pants or Jeans (for cooler fall weather)

    • Tennis Shoes- Neutral Colors Preferred- White, Black or Grey. 90% of tennis or running shoes are fine. Just leave the neon pink at home please.

  • Concert Wear

Students may choose either a tuxedo or dress to wear for concerts.

Option 1- Dress: Black Concert Dress with Black Footwear. No colored jewelry.

Option 2- Tuxedo: Black Tuxedo, White Tuxedo Shirt or White Dress Shirt, Black Bow Tie, Black Dress Shoes (NOT MARCHING SHOES), Black Socks. We provide the jacket and pants, you provide everything else.

These are fitted during camp and the first weeks of school and sent home for you to keep until you are done with them. They can be altered, dry cleaned as you see fit. They are yours for 4 years or until they grow out of them. These are paid for through booster funds/fees and checked out on the honor system for no charge (or technically paid for through the fee) and are just turned in when you are done. If they are not turned in the replacement cost is $125 for the tuxedo and $75 for the dress. We buy more of these new each year and continue to add to the inventory. If you want to donate a tuxedo or black suit, we’re happy to have more. The only part of this you provide is the shirt. If you prefer to wear your own pants that is also fine, but we have them as well. These are more of a personal item to you that you don’t turn in until you are totally done with it, so dry cleaning and alterations are all up to you to take care of as you need. That is different than band uniforms. For tuxedos you will need a tuxedo or dress shirt/ black bow tie. You can purchase these anywhere locally or online. Any white dress shirt with a black bow tie or a tuxedo shirt such as this will be suitable: Shirt Link
