Fundraising
Most band programs fundraise nonstop with many doing 10-15 large fundraisers per year to prevent large fees. Others pay fees in excess of $1,600 per student to avoid fundraising. Some do both! The feeling expressed from Asheville parents is they do not want to fundraise non-stop and would prefer to pay a fee and be done. However, we also do not want a fee so out of control it becomes a burden. We do 1 fundraiser that goes directly to pay student fees, 1 paper sale involving fruit, and 2 other events that raise money but do not involve selling products. That’s it! Read below and make sure to participate. The way we can get away with doing so little fundraising is due to the fact so many parents support the few things we do.

Asheville Tourists Games
Many families that would prefer to work one or two evenings of concessions as opposed to writing a check for band fee and the Asheville Tourists offer our parents/students an amazing opportunity to do so. For simply working a shift in concessions at a baseball game the Tourists donate $100-150 per person to the band association which will be used to fund a student fee. 2 parents and a student that work one evening is an entire band fee. The Asheville Tourists are the #1 contributor to the AHS Band donating more than $18,000 in 2022. Take advantage of this opportunity and support our local baseball club. Sock it to me Santa 5K- December 14th
One of the most successful fundraiser’s of the year is the Sock It To Me Santa 5K! This event is very popular in the race community selling out weeks before the event in its 1st year. The way the band makes money from this is from race registrations and sponsorships. Therefore, we need you to advertise the event to friends who may like to run, and to find local businesses who may like to sponsor the event. Information can be found on the registration site below:
Band Fruit Sale
For over 60 years the Asheville High Bands have been selling fruit. The fruit sale is the only paper sale that involves the product that students sell and deliver. If we are going to do an actual sell we want to be something healthy and fruit has been and continues to be a popular item. The company we use is a small family owned company that guarantees high quality fruit. The product last year was simply the best I’ve ever had in 18 years of selling fruit. I think you will be very pleased with your fruit if you decide to participate.
Mattress Sale
Selling mattresses sounds crazy but it works! 10% of the population is in the market for a mattress at any given time and the only thing we have to do is advertise and find those folks. We don’t need you to buy a mattress (unless you need one) but simply to advertise to friends and family and find someone who does. This year the mattress sale will be October 29th at Asheville Middle’s Gym.
